The holidays provide some of the best times to read with your kids! There are lots of fabulous holiday books to enjoy together. Allow your kids to do some of the reading when it comes to holiday traditions. Snuggle up together and share a good book. Happy Reading and Happy Holidays!!

November Tips for Reading at Home!
Here are a few tips how literacy can be fun at home!
*Make reading a daily routine. Kids will just know that right before bedtime every night they get to read stories.
*Use a lot of expression! That is what makes the story come to life!
*Let your child choose which book they want and if it is the same story over and over they are still learning from it!
*Use a timer to see how quickly you can finish the story or a few pages. Then, try to beat your time!

October Reading Tips!
We are excited to be working with students in reading! 2nd and 3rd grade students that work with Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Thurman should be bringing home a reading log to keep track of the books they read. They should read every day! After they read, an adult should sign their log and they can return it the next school day for points. Over the weekend they can read the Title I book one day and then read any book that is available to them. Please be sure to write the new date and title of the book, and have an adult sign the log for more points! Points are awarded for everyday the student reads and returns it with an adult signature. Thanks for helping your child remember! We haven't started the reading log program with our 1st graders yet, but please remember to read with your child every night! We will inform you when 1st grade begins the reading logs.
